Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the Android app Phone Sleep (package name com.avaragedevs.phonesleep), published by Avarage Devs, handles information.
Phone Sleep is a timer. You choose how long to wait, the app shows the countdown, and when the time ends it can turn the screen off by locking the phone. The app is built to do that work on your device.
Short version
- We do not ask you to create an account.
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, location, or messages.
- We do not use advertising or analytics tools.
- We do not sell or share personal information.
- The timer, notification, and screen-off action stay on your phone.
Information we do not collect
Phone Sleep does not collect, upload, or store any of the following:
- Identity information, such as your name, email address, or account ID
- Contact lists, call logs, SMS messages, or clipboard contents
- Photos, files, microphone audio, or camera images
- Precise or approximate location
- Health, financial, or biometric information
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
- A history of the timers you set, sent to us or to any server we operate
The app has no internet feature of its own. It does not contain a login, a cloud sync feature, ads, or a third-party analytics SDK.
Information that stays on your device
While a timer is running, the app keeps the end time in memory so it can update the countdown and lock the screen at the right moment. That value is used only to run the timer. It is not sent to Avarage Devs.
Android may include ordinary app data in the backup or device-transfer system you already use, such as Google backup, because Android backup is allowed for this app. That backup is controlled by Android and your Google account settings. We do not receive a copy of it.
Permissions and device features
The app requests only the access it needs to run the timer. Here is what each part is for:
| Permission or feature | Why Phone Sleep uses it |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Shows the sleep countdown in the notification shade and, when Android allows it, on the status bar. You can deny this permission. The in-app timer can still be used, but the status-bar countdown may not appear. |
| Promoted notifications | Asks Android to show the remaining time as a status-bar chip. This is a display feature, not a data collection feature. |
| Foreground service | Keeps the countdown running and visible after you leave the app, until the timer ends or you stop it. The service does not browse your files or watch other apps. |
| Device admin, limited to lock | Turns the screen off by locking the phone when the timer reaches zero. The only device-admin policy the app requests is force-lock. It cannot wipe the phone, change the password, disable the camera, or manage other apps. |
| Quick Settings tile | Lets you open a timer dialog from Quick Settings and start a countdown without leaving the app you are using. The tile does not read the contents of that app. |
You can turn these off at any time in Android settings. If you remove device admin, the countdown can still run, but the app will not be able to turn the screen off.
How screen-off works
When you press Start, Android may ask you to activate Phone Sleep as a device admin. That step is required because a normal app is not allowed to turn the screen off by itself. After you allow it, the app calls the system lock action at the end of the timer. The lock uses the screen lock you already set on the phone. Phone Sleep does not see, store, or change your PIN, pattern, password, or fingerprint.
Children
Phone Sleep is a general-purpose timer. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal information, there is no child profile to create or delete.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information. We do not use data brokers. The only companies involved in distributing the app are the platform providers you already use:
- Google Play distributes the app and handles purchase, download, and install records under Google’s own privacy policy. Those records are not sent to us by the app.
- Android shows notifications, runs the foreground service, displays the Quick Settings tile, and performs the lock action you approved.
How long information is kept
The running timer exists only until it finishes, you press Stop, or the app process ends. We do not keep a server-side copy because we do not receive one. Uninstalling the app removes it from your device. You can also deactivate device admin in Android settings before or after uninstalling.
Security
Timer data is processed locally on your phone. No Phone Sleep account password exists to steal, and the app does not transmit timer contents over the network. Your screen lock remains the protection Android already provides after the timer locks the phone.
Your choices
- Deny or turn off notifications in Android settings.
- Turn off live or promoted updates for Phone Sleep if you do not want the status-bar chip.
- Deactivate the Phone Sleep device admin in Settings, Security, Device admin apps.
- Remove the Sleep Quick Settings tile.
- Uninstall the app.
Because we do not hold a database of your personal information, there is no profile for us to provide, correct, or delete. Requests about data held by Google, such as your Play install history, should be made to Google.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts collecting information, or this policy changes in a material way, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Continued use of the app after the new date means the updated policy applies.
